Frequently asked questions

Investing with BAICV — common questions

How do I start investing with BAICV?

Talk to a manager at a branch or through the digital channels. We assess your goal, time horizon and risk profile and propose the right solution — from a term deposit to bonds and securities.

What investment products are available?

Term deposits (guaranteed capital, fixed interest), programmed savings (monthly contributions that grow) and bonds and securities (periodic coupons). The simulator above estimates each one.

What is the minimum amount?

It varies by product. There are accessible options to start saving with small monthly contributions and others for larger amounts with dedicated terms. Minimums and current rates are in the Price List and Information Sheet for each product.

How are returns taxed?

Interest and returns may be subject to withholding tax under Cabo Verde law. Simulated values are gross and indicative; the tax treatment depends on your situation.

Can I withdraw before maturity?

Term deposits usually allow early withdrawal, generally with partial or total loss of the period's interest. Programmed savings and bonds have their own redemption/trading rules. Check the specific conditions before subscribing.

What is the risk of each product?

Term deposits have guaranteed capital. Bonds and securities carry the issuer's credit risk and market risk — the value can rise or fall and past performance does not guarantee future results. We choose the right risk level with you.

I'm an emigrant — can I invest in Cabo Verde?

Yes. BAICV's emigrant account and savings and investment solutions let you invest your savings in Cabo Verde from abroad, with a dedicated manager and access to incentives and investment-support agencies.

Does BAICV support business investment projects?

Yes. Beyond savings products, BAICV is a financial partner for business projects — investment loans, treasury, guarantees and coordination with investment-promotion agencies. Talk to the business team.
