BAICV never asks you for codes
Not by phone, SMS or email: the bank never asks for your BAIDIRECTO password, codes sent by SMS, your PIN or full card details. Any such request is fraud — hang up and contact your branch.
Phishing and smishing
Be wary of messages with artificial urgency ("your account will be blocked"), poor spelling, odd senders or shortened links. Never reach BAIDIRECTO through links you receive: always type ib.bancobai.cv or use the official app.
Passwords and authentication
Use long, unique passwords for the bank — never the same as other services — and enable every authentication factor available. Do not save credentials in the browser of shared computers.
Cards and online shopping
Prefer the Virtual Prepaid Visa card for internet purchases: load only the amount you need and never expose your main card. Turn on transaction alerts and check your statement regularly.
Public Wi-Fi and devices
Avoid banking on open Wi-Fi networks. Keep your phone and computer up to date, install apps only from official stores and lock the screen with a PIN or biometrics.
If you suspect fraud
Act fast: change your password, immediately contact your branch or the bank's line to block cards and access, keep the messages as evidence and file a report with the Judicial Police. A quick reaction makes the difference in recovering funds.
